What global reaction, may I ask, have the socialists been seeking? and to what end?

I agree with the chilly aspect. October in particular should have a chill in the air. Just seems right. But, what would you define as "boring" here?

Pretty much the deathknell of Capitalism. The end of fossil fuel usage by industry and the redistribution of wealth from Western Countries to poor countries as payment for our sins. Other than that... nothing much If you want a good read, look up the UN's Agenda 21 plan. It clearly outlines their world shaping plans

A lot to unpack here, but got it. I'm assuming this is supposed to be frightening.

Especially since "Agenda 21" contains a collection of best practices for urban planning.

If you consider a world centralized govt and hearding people into crammed "walkable" communities instead of having the option to own a nice piece of land urban planning

What's wrong with 70s in early October? Especially crisp low 70s? Maybe I'm an old man too. 80s forget it, but low 70s with low dews are great.

Doesn't fit the tenor of the month in my opinion. I prefer temps to top out in the 60s. If there will be 70s, low dews to accompany them. But, those are just my preferences, probably based off childhood experiences.

That is, by definition, planning. I'm unsure why you've added the scare-quotes around walkable. Walkable communities are the gold standard and people like to live there. Wherever there is a walkable community, prices for that real-estate are much higher than the surrounding area. I'm working on an MA in urban and regional planning. If you'd like to learn more, I can recommend some texts.

Can someone remind me when the torch is?  I want to be sure I have time to install.  TIA.

LOL, seriously – I check in here and listen to the discussion, then go to my point forecast to find highs in the 60s F and think WTF.

Indeed, like many, I use the NWS point forecasts.  Maybe we’re lucky up here because we’re covered by BTV, but even with the partially automated nature of the service and the fact that we’re in a mountain microclimate area, the simple point and click nails the temperatures and precipitation for us the vast majority of the time.  The BTV NWS folks are literally experts in meteorology and our local mountain climates, so it seems silly to not use their products.

When I P&C for Waterbury, all I see is this.   :raining:

Well you're in VT...

Again it's all relative to where people live. For so many years the whole back-and-forth argument between folks that live farther south and folks that live further north with regards to "torch" and "warmth" is just ridiculous...and in fact the word "torch" is stupid to begin with.

Anyways...let's take a look at Saturday and forgetting where people live and taking into account what climo is...

1) Climo...

Your climo is right around 60 or 30...looks like highs will be pretty close to 70...maybe even lower 70's (relative to climo that's pretty dang warm). BDL is right around 70 (just shy perhaps) and temps down this way will be well into the 80's...relative to climo that is pretty dang warm.

2) 850 temperature anomalies look to be greater than +5 SD above the average...that is pretty remarkable. So based on this...it doesn't matter where you live in New England...knowing that we're going to see some decent sun and mixing ahead of this...relative to everyone's climo it's going to be warm.

Everyone wants HHH until turkey day, then flip the switch to bob houses, opening the ski mobile gates, and dropping ropes on the Stowe Front Four.

Know what'd be awesome... heh...

snows so much all ski resorts are inaccessible .... talin' over 50' ...well over the top of the lodges. Lift chairs half buried with the tops of the towers sticking out...
