A lot of rain coming in today. than a nice few days with low humidity enjoy. The heat seems likely Before or around the 20th. That’s still so far away thatcould get shunted by these Canadian storms that are troughing the northeast. Very possible we get some heat here though.

I remember when it used to get into the 50's on a cool July or August morning...Now anything below 65 is considered cool...

2014 to 2018 was the first time NYC went 5 consecutive summers with no June or July 50’s. LGA has a 11 year streak going. White Plains has a 17 year streak continuing  above 50 degrees.

surprised there's no flash flood watch for nnj and the city today. regardless of soil moisture outside the city, etc, there appears to be a high risk for training storms this afternoon. CAMs still supporting periodic thunderstorms beginning as early as ~1PM w/ local amounts of 3-6".

looks like this morning round just off the coast is leaving behind a boundary (pseudo-warm front) that will become a focus for new storms nearby early this afternoon, in addition to what can pop up on seabreeze fronts. the next piece of energy (marked w/ the X) will focus a line of storms in the DC area that heads up this way towards early evening.

Purdue, thank you for  your always informative posts.  I too was surprised to not see a Flash flood watch this AM when I checked the NWS map.  We've seen this a few times this summer and the storms have not disappointed in the rainfall dept.

Everything time we have a storm event I notice a storm always develops right over or near SI

Honestly third time in the last 2 weeks I saw dark clouds with a developing storm that is right across the Kill Van Kull over Carteret.

I was about to say I feel like I've seen this radar 5 times this summer. Must be what it feels like to live in Miami.
