Bretton Woods is not quite as expensive (plus we built it on our land, so we have 3 rentals and our house on the same 32 acre lot). It’s been under construction for 2 years. I’m so over it, but the end product is pretty close to my dream home. The logs are 18” wide - we had to get them from Idaho. The reason I picked this plan was because of all the rooflines. Can’t wait to see it covered in snow.

Lava Rock
What a forecast bust today. Today...Patchy dense fog this morning. Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Its been like 100% clouds pretty much all day. One CLR observation at 7am but CAA and mountains... not gonna be all sun. We wish we were in SNE. Fall is in the air. Widespread 60s and dry dews. Lol, was just gonna post about the clouds. In Naples out on boat. A bit chilly with partial breaks. Making the best of it. Dinner then 2 hr songo queen classic rock boat cruise

However, having heated mostly with wood for decades, I can't imagine not having a woodstove in the north country, preferably on an inside wall (unlike our current place with stove on outside wall) so the chimney gives heat to the house all the way to the roofline. Some folks, my wife included, would rather not see firewood hauled into a brand new home.

So it's a bit of a combo between a fireplace and a stove

The landscaper is doing an awesome job too (work in progress). Lots of rocks and boulders, a large patio with log pergola, firepit and a big waterfall/pond. Down to 52F across the river at the Stowe Country Club. Should be in the 40s in no time. The gradient along Lake Champlain is crazy this time of year too...mid-60s along the warm waters and low-50s a few miles inland. That’s when you can watch your car thermometer be like 65F in downtown BTV and then lose 2-3F per mile heading to Williston on I-89.

Tough way to run an August if looking for high heat. You're 78.1F average max looks to actually be a shade lower than up here, as MVL looks like 78.3F. The mins are the difference, with 52.0F up here vs. 56.1F.... but that's the difference between an ASOS in a field at the valley bottom (between mountain ridges) and a station closer to trees & above the valley bottom. The afternoon daytime temps up here were the same between us in the means.

Highest temp for the month in PWM was 85F, humidity kept largely in check. Def a relief over Aug 2018. Enjoy your polar plunge
