I was reading about this. Impressive. Doesnt stray from 88-92 much down there all summer. Of course with stifling humidity.

The real record breaking heat this June turned out to be near San Francisco and Miami. Our last June with monthly record heat was 2017 when LGA tied the June record high of 101.

The current temperature in Nimes is now 108. The French national record is 111.

Looks like Carpentras just broke the French national record. This is even more remarkable coming so early in the season. The previous record occurred in August 2003.

88 and 89 the past two days here. My DVP2 is fan-aspirated and sunlit all day, but the very rural setting typically keeps my summer highs similar to Central Park.

The 46-day ECMWF weekly mean temperature anomaly, which runs out through second week of August, is around +2. The pattern implied would be very warm overall with spasmodic cool-downs. Lower dew points in the means as expected this summer.

Wow, imagine that. 113 and not in the desert. Pretty sure none of their pools have the metal ladder handles wrapped in heat resistant insulation that you find in and around the Phoenix metro at hotels. Don't want to touch those metal handles! Might have crispy human fingers for lunch.

The air mass originated over the Sahara desert. But it was locally enhanced by a downslope flow.

I was 86 & 89 last two days, same unit with sun on it.  Surprised you didn’t hit 90 being away from coastal winds.  I’m noticing since my move last year having more lawn around helps keep the heat down just a tad on most days from what I had at my old location.

Ive heard the Saharan air riding the trade winds is also a factor in the record heat in Miami.

Usually for S FL to get record heat winds come from the N & W there. I didn’t look at wind direction with the record heat they’ve been having but I’m sure it’s from those directions to get that high in temp there.
