In fact it seems like hot stagnant water is their least favorite. Some favorite habitats for DIT, learn something new every day:

Ginx snewx
The worst mosquito bites are salt marsh ones, they hatch at full moon on a low tide. They could carry Wiz away.

Ticks have been extremely abundant though. Maybe our worst year in at least
Torch Tiger
0z gfs is great next week. Should remain active however, with a wee NE retrograde of the squeeze play we have been in the past month. Finally perhaps the bangers we have been craving, moderate to high dews, sans excessive heat.

I'm not sure if it's just the way it is here or due to this year's weather, but so far there's been very little in the bug department here (outside of ants--exterminator coming next week). weatherwiz
Not sure why this never stood out until now, but the winter of 1979-1980 was a weak EL Nino...that was the last weak EL Nino (winter) until 2004-2005 (using Eric Webb's ensemble Oceanic Nino-Index Data). That's INSANE.
Tom12309
The mosquitoes were driving me a little nuts when I was weeding the garden, I had sprayed a product called Repel on an old hat and they weren't bothering me around my head but were clouds of them all around my arms and legs. So I went back in and got an old T-shirt and sprayed that stuff all over it. They left me alone. It is intended to be sprayed on clothing and gear, used as indicated it really seems to work.
