I am guessing the drone can handle winds far above manufacturer's specs. He is lucky it didn't get pulled into an inflow jet.
nrgjeff
Nice videos of the Canton tornado. So it didn't munch those power lines with a big power flash? Probably for the best. SPC did the right thing. Went severe watch west of DFW. Waited for a solid signal before going tornado watch DFW. It was going to be a mesoscale decision right over a major city. Warnings got out in plenty of time. DFW friends told me they knew it was going to hit the fan. Once again the warning system worked very well in a major metro.

I suppose the most important value, is the number of confirmed tornadoes. My best resource here is Wikipedia, which says 294. Ok, thanks for the clarification. Through 5/29, preliminary tornado count for this May is roughly 600. When all is said in done in additional storm surveys and final actual tornado count, removing duplicates, odds are we are easily going to see a top 5 month. Here are the months w/ 300 or more tornadoes in the U.S.: April 2011 758 June 1990 329 May 2003 543 May 1982 329 May 2004 509 May 2011 326 May 2008 462 June 2010 324 June 1992 399 June 2005 316 May 1995 391 June 1993 313 May 2015 381 May 1999 311 June 1998 376 May 1998 310 May 1991 335 May 2010 304
nrgjeff
Interesting June 1993 comes up. I remember lots of severe near KC before going flood. Similarities this year exist. Perhaps late-season June-ing will go well.

Around the 1:16 mark he seems to get into a little trouble when he turns to reposition and the drone drops and you can catch a glimpse of some leaves or small branches falling past at 1:20ish so
DanLarsen34
Mentioned this in the other forum, but the Dayton tornado was just upgraded to an EF4. That means we’ve had two violent tornadoes during this prolonged outbreak sequence. Matches with the radar data we saw in real time.
cheese007
Interesting that the second lowest number of tornadoes during this outbreak was the high risk day on the 20th.
