Growing up in Dallas everyone talked about the summer of 1980 and how it was just relentless heat. Every July day was 100+ and that summer Dallas had 28 days above 105. I was born in 81 so just missed out!

In the early 90s we had some terrible summers where we would always get a string of 103+ days but it'd be broken up by mid 90s.

2011 was a brutal Texas summer too but nothing will top 1980 in Dallas.

I was 17 at the time and it was BRUTAL!!!!

I was in Mechanicsburg getting ready for the Little league game. This was brief, but intense. Trees and debris all over the place.

I would love for voyager to be the jack pot and and miss us. We need to get this game in tonight.

Outdoor activities Saturday may be non-existent unless you're in a pool and that might not be all that helpful!

Yup. And here I sit in Manhattan in a bus. Brought a group in for a Bryant Park drop off. Not leaving until 6:30pm.

Bryant Park is the best. We always stay at the Bryant Park Hotel and chill in the park.

Also it's pretty f'n miserable outside.

Bryant Park looked nice, but we can only drop/pick and run there. We then have to head to the cruise ship area on the west side (between 11th and 12th Ave) to park.

As for the storms, per the USGS automated gauge, we got 0.70" yesterday.

i heard areas of lanco got smacked around hard last evening

I received 1.6" of rain, no idea about wind but looking around Maytown this morning I didn't see much to indicate there was wind.

Washington Boro got a smack down. Trees, branches and wires everywhere. Heard the southern end got a whoopin' too.

I heard about it on the radio this morning. Said people were hiding in their basements.

Like @canderson said, we didn't have that much rain, but i'm glad we did, it saved me a day of watering. We're gonna need that coming through the weekend ya know.

So I have a part time job with the Barnstormers. Last night around 6:30 the sky was green. I mean...it was really green. I've heard people describe seeing that before but until last night I'm not sure I ever did. I was commenting about this to fans who were adjacent to me. One guy kind of laughed and then when he looked he got this look of horror on his face, turned to his wife and said "holy f*ck, it is green!" Then he looks back at me and says...what does that mean? I say, I'm not sure exactly but it ain't a good thing.

I didn't find out until after the fact that Lancaster city was under a Tornado Warning at the time...

I would say definitely the most intense storm around here in awhile.   We have been getting big rain producers but the lightning and wind with this storm was something else.

agreed.  "best" storm of year so far.  Lots of T and L in my area.

Ponding in neighbors YARD this AM.  Never have seen that before.

My wife took this picture about a half mile from our home last evening. I've never seen anything like it...any ideas? I was at the ballpark in Lancaster working when the storm hit.
