hawkeye_wx
We dropped into the 30s again this morning. Tonight is finally the last cold night before Mother Nature switches us to a genuine late-spring pattern.
cyclone77
Lots of warmth and humidity showing up for later this week into the weekend. Finally some nice instability to work with for whatever convection we can muster.
Chambana
1230PM and it’s 48 degrees outside. This has to be one of the most miserable Mother’s Day weekends I have ever seen. BUT long range is looking great. In fact, I have mid 80’s in my forecast next weekend. We are almost there everyone.
Spartman
Only reached 52. The record low maximum temperature for today is 48 in 1960. Could very well top the same or just below tomorrow with NWS only forecasting highs in the mid 50s. The record low maximum temperature for tomorrow is 49 in 1914. Come on already, Tuesday! #blackberrywinter
Frog Town
So the prognosticators of an epic Winter with a persistent Negative NAO nailed it! Just 3 months late. Put this pattern in January and you bury the Upper Ohio Valley with lots of snow and cold. Rat Fart!

We would probably get a lot of cold and dry if a negative NAO persisted all winter.
Chambana
Yesterday’s high of 48 degrees in Champaign tied the record for the lowest max temperature for May 12th since 2006. Multiple stations across central Illinois tied or broke low max temps as well. Goodbye rotten weekend. Hello gorgeous week.
hawkeye_wx
It's a spectacular day across Iowa... mid 60s with light wind.
Chambana
Reached 76 today. After the craptastic weekend, this was more than welcome. Took my son morel mushroom hunting, but came up empty handed.
cyclone77
Hit 80 here today. 79 at MLI. Kinda rare that we beat MLI. Looks like 85 tomorrow with 60s dews, and then back to the 50s all day Fri lol.
Chambana
My backyard view. Illinois has its own unique beauty.
bowtie`
Indiana does not look too shabby also. Thank you Illinois for sharing your clouds with us so those of us east of you have nice sunsets too. You can see the progression of the sunset in my Clouds thread in the photography section if you want.
weatherbo
It's a long shot but wouldn't surprise me at all. The official forecast is pretty chilly already.
cyclone77
Pretty toasty day today at 91. MLI also hit 91, which was good for a new record. Hard to believe it was snowing and sleeting < 3 weeks ago. Cu has been bubbling up pretty good in the northern/northeastern sky. Cap holding strong though.
CoalCityWxMan
I feel bad for the farmers..
cyclone77
Some nice hailers popped up and put on a nice light show. Some pretty nice crashes with those. Hail core passed a little north of here, but got a few very brief downpours. Nice finish to a summery day.
hawkeye_wx
The first good light show of the season here, currently. However, much of this is going to miss south of Cedar Rapids.

hawkeye_wx
Total bust here, just some good lightning and a few hundredths of an inch of rain. It has just been a real struggle to get anything this spring. Tomorrow everything leaps north of my area. Hopefully, we can scrape something out of this pattern late in the weekend. bowtie`
I was at work when that MCS rolled through but there was 0.85 in the tippy bucket when I got home. Lots of leaves liberated from the trees also. Must have been a decent blow.
cyclone77
Picked up 0.57" this evening. Small hail cored missed a bit north earlier, but we picked up a brief period of peas a short while ago. Also had 40mph winds as well. Radar showed a small pocket of 60-70kts down near Hillsdale, so may see some tree damage on the way in to work tomorrow. A few uprooted large trees just west of Hillsdale, and several other large trees with significant damage. Definitely 70+mph winds went through that area. Only 60 degrees here, which is over 30 degrees cooler than this time yesterday. Warmth not too far away though, as MLI is at 70.
weatherbo
Rain moving in towards morning, possibly starting as snow here in the higher terrain areas... 2-3" of rain in the forecast this weekend, along with very chilly temps, wind chills. What a contrast tomorrow! (Point forecast has 39 for the high here)
hawkeye_wx
I picked up 0.89" of rain from round #1. It would be nice if we could consistently get something halfway between 50s and 90.
michsnowfreak
Been a mostly gray May, and while it is my least favorite time of the year, I do enjoy the May flowers. Took this yesterday.
