EDIT: Weather station has recorded a 2mb drop in the past 15 minutes. 29.75" to 29.61" in that time frame (1005 to 1003). The 1.92" of rain yesterday at ORD also made it the wettest Memorial Day on record. Edit: Power went out and wiped away my rain data from today from the weather station console. That's what I get for forgetting to put batteries in the console to back it up during outages. Apparently there is no way to add it back manually, so I'll have to remember to add 1.11" (daily total up to then) to the May 29th data point. That will go for the weather underground page as well. Last year's short lived May record for ORD I jokingly call a fake record because it was pretty localized, with the high totals focused over the northern metro. ORD happened to jackpot a few events. If I counted correctly only 13 measurable rain days in May 2018 compared to the ridiculous 21 days of measurable this year (23 of T or highe). Just as a reference for the localized high totals last May, through May 31st, LOT was over 2" below normal for March 1-May 31 period. This year we had ~10" more at the office in the same stretch. wisconsinwx Posted June 2, 2019 Share Posted June 2, 2019 It was an interesting May; we more than doubled our average days of thunderstorms for the month with 10 instead of the average of 4 days, pretty hard to do during a cooler than average May for our locale. I'm hoping the cool and relatively stormy pattern continues. Regardless of storms, this coming week looks to be quite pleasant on the whole as it should be this time of year.
