No let up in sight for the muted high temperature potential this spring. Newark only reaching 80 degrees by May 10th is the 5 coldest on record. The high of 70 at JFK by this time is the coldest on record. The BDR spring high of 70 is 2nd coldest.

Some of the coldest feeling temperatures during the afternoon on Mother’s Day in recent times. Most guidance only has daytime temperatures close to 50 with gusty east winds. Whatever amount of rain we get will just add to the chilly conditions for this time of year.

Some gusty winds near the coast too, pretty much a late spring nor'easter.

Temps could even drop into the 40s once the rain kicks in.

Cool temps are way better and more comfortable than hot temps.

@Cfa We just do lol.  My high for the next two days is only in the 40's with rain.  Can you really enjoy that in the middle of May?  Perhaps I'm missing something, but for me 75°+ with sunny skies is far more conducive of a good mood and the ability to enjoy the outdoors than grey, rainy, and raw weather.

i guess it's all just preference.  I'm not home a lot and often miss weekends (I'm sure you do also) and so my enjoyment is spending family time outdoors, not in.

It’s the rain, not the cool. We know, you say it everyday, you rather stay inside on the couch and watch cartoons than be outside. Most humans like to be outside.

You sure about that? Tellies stay essentially the same through end of May.

If you mean warmer than the next few days then sure, but I don't see widespread 80s or 90s anytime soon.

I think as we get closer to late May guidance will correct itself and show cooler temperatures.

Down here on MD's eastern shore is a different story. Completely different climate down here.

Not sure of widespread 90s but there are hints of ridging expanding out form the GL/OV.  ECM less enthused than the GFS.  We will see but warmer temps Above Normal May 22- 31 overall wouldnt surprise me.

Could be a fake out as we've seen this winter. Things will probably get warmer just due to climo but I don't see AN.

I think June could be AN as the tellie signals weaken. It won't take much to get the heat up here from the Mid-Atlantic once we lose those outside influences.

I don't think most here want downright hot temps. Just nice warm comfortable temps. 70 to 80 degrees with low humidity is comfortable. The next few days we're gonna have low 50s with cloudy skies and rain. That type of weather feels so raw and miserable. You can't do anything outside in that type of weather. Don't know how you can root for that type of weather, especially since you're a baseball fan. You can't play baseball in that weather. How can you not want 70 and sunny for baseball??

Wet times ahead for the next couple of days or so. Rain should move in around midnight tonight with rain (heavy at times) continuing at least thru the first half of tomorrow then maybe a lull with another round of heavy rain tomorrow night into Monday. It looks like a widespread 1-2" rainfall w/locally higher amounts.

Despite bright sun, almost since sunrise, temperature here has only risen 5 degrees  >>>>59* to 64* as of 2PM.   68* by 3PM.    71* by 4PM, with a deck of mid-level clouds now approaching from SW.      Best day yet, I would have to say---but can it sustain us till the sun graces us again?

Right. I can’t see how anyone could enjoy raw 50’s, it disturbs me almost as much as the cold. Perhaps our weather preferences are influenced by some sort of physiological difference. Sunshine and temps above 70 degrees are an instant mood booster for me.

Precisely, we’re at the point where even BN temps feel nice provided there’s some sunshine, or at least no rain.

This past week was a nice reprieve from nearly a month long stretch of horrible weather.
