The tornadic supercell cycled and either briefly produced two tornadoes at the same time (not completely conclusive) or at the very least two tornadoes, overall. We drive all those hours; so, a longer show is so satisfying. I can't wait to get out there in a couple weeks. Wednesday target is the intersection of the synoptic front and the outflow boundary from Oklahoma thunderstorms. Synoptic front is what I'm calling what's left of a DL/CF hybrid in northwest Texas this morning. It's diffuse. Later today the boundary intersection should become more clear on visible satellite and surface charts. All CAMs match the conceptual model, which is nice. Upper winds are not wonderful for chasing. However some low level wind recovery is forecast by 00Z. Today looks pretty localized. Sydney Claridge Posted May 1, 2019 Author Share Posted May 1, 2019 With less SRH modeled for today (but with greater modeled SBCAPE in excess of 4000+ J/kg) I'm starting to think today may be more of concern for damaging winds with MCS potential. Outflow boundaries can be interesting though; I recall how the April 3, 2012 tornado event over DFW was sparked by the presence of an outflow boundary over the DFW area (not saying that's going to happen though). Unlike yesterday I'm actually getting sun here on the west side of Fort Worth. It'll be hard to beat yesterday though with the tornado-warned storms in Parker/Tarrant/Denton counties though, but a more widespread damaging wind event is always a concern. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

cstrunk Posted May 1, 2019 Share Posted May 1, 2019 Maybe it's just me, but the storms in SC OK already have that "look". More storms firing in NW/NC TX. Meanwhile, farther east, the outflow boundary in NE TX and NW LA continues moving southward. It will be interesting to see if it slows down/stalls/moves back northward and if any storms fire along it and take advantage of the enhanced helicity.
