I mean those were some crazy obs last night out of Duluth...10.9" and the temperatures at the ASOS were mostly 34-35F. That's hard to do at those temps. Euro and GFS have 30s and rain up this way. I would root for snow if the alternative is 38F steady rain. Probably my threshold is anything under 45F and rain might as well be snow. I'd rather 70F and sun or a humid rain with thunder...but there's not much worse than upper 30s and rain. That's when you might as well root for catpaws or something interesting. I remember taking a Polaroid photo from our 2nd floor, back porch in Cambridge of at least 1” of snow on the house next door, which was literally 5’ away. We'd have an 80-page thread going a mile a minute if models were showing 1-2" QPF with 850s of -6C over ORH or something like that happening tomorrow .
