goldsborosnow
How about a day three slight risk for Eastern North Carolina on Christmas Eve?

goldsborosnow
The SPC has upgraded to an Enhanced Risk for Eastern North Carolina now. They seem to like the idea of supercell development in the warm sector ahead of the main line in addition to QLCS spinnups with in that line.

Calderon
Killer, likely at least EF-3, tornado hit the northern Birmingham suburb of Fultondale overnight. At least one hotel heavily damaged at I-65 & Walkers Chapel Road, which is one exit north of where the Tuscaloosa/North Birmingham EF4 from 4/27/2011 crossed the interstate. Also, multiple homes completely destroyed nearby with 1 fatality confirmed so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx1H6AjKfuU https://abc3340.com/news/local/storm-damage-reported-in-fultondale-after-tornado-producing-storm

But yea, violent overnight tornado in Fultondale. There's a chance today. I'm hopeful, but CIN seems to be a contributing factor to holding it down. Still, solid moisture, ample wind shear & decent amount of energy are there.

kayman
Another confirmed tornado touched down this morning at Tallahassee International Airport. The NWS Tallahassee weather office radar was hit by the storm. Surveys will be conducted in the next 36 hours to determine the severity. We have to do better on covering other areas and other weather conditions in the SE aside from NC and SC snowfall forecasts. Otherwise, we need to recommend renaming to the Carolinas and move the other SE states to other regional subforums. 1

This is a Carolinas heavy forum member wise so the discussion is Carolina centric. I agree that the geographic area of the SE forum is too large. The distance from Greensboro, NC to Miami, FL is only about 15 miles less than the distance from Greensboro, NC to Portland, ME.
nrgjeff
We occasionally discuss severe as far south as Birmingham over in the Tennessee Valley region. We also discuss Mississippi sometimes as far south as Jackson. Tenn Valley region on this forum is more broad than the literal river valley. Typically we leave Atlanta to this Southeast region, but we'll talk North Georgia in the Tennessee Valley region since it's right up on southeast Tenn. Atlanta has enough members to typically generate discussion here in Southeast. Huntsville and Muscle Shoals, AL are discussed well in Tennessee Valley, for those North Alabama severe days. Rest of Alabama and Mississippi kind of depends on where the center of the threat is forecast. Safe but exciting spring to all!
