I dont care how cold it is leading into Friday.  If temps are in the 30s with snow in mid- day, then it is white rain.  And the forecast is for temps well into the mid 30s, at least, currently.  Another horribly timed event.

our event on sunday was timed well. Our best rates were after 6pm

We have had some well timed events, hence all the school delays and closings this year despite not a ton of snow for some. Problem is, generally speaking all of our winter events have been weaker, borderline systems. Haven’t really had that cranked up coastal all season. Stinks.

we had 66" of precip at dc last year and 8" since jan 1.  how much of that was snow?  probably not enough.  we just didn't have enough cold this season, evident by the fact that we really didn't have any prolonged deep freeze.  it is what it is.  bring on the mild.

18z as a whole was lousy.  This was my first and last thread to start, lol.

Oh come on dude. This might be the most consistently disproven notion to ever exist on this forum. As someone who has been here a while you should know that. Let's talk numbers... ground temps were around 40 degrees heading into Sunday where you live. They'll be hovering around freezing for this one. Tell us again how that will have zero impact.

If it comes down as advertised on the 3k, it will stick.

Longtime lurker, occasional poster, DC resident, and your mom's fave lover, anything else?

The threat might be weak sauce but it won't be because what falls immediately melts.

I really dont think it is about the cold. It is about teleconnnections/ pattern.  The fact that Minneapolis has had record snow this winter tells the story for the mid atlantic.  This winter the storm tracks set up over the Mississippi river valley.. everyone in the northwest quadrant of that track got snow on snow.  You need an anomoly in the north atlantic timed with an active STJ to get big time snow here.  We can also get northern stream winters where the ao is negative and we get several moderate events.

this year was just way too average for us....

The cool thing about winter here is when it pops off.. man we get hammered.  You just gotta persist through winters like this to cash in.  Seems like it happens every approx 6 years.. probably just a coincidence.. but 87, 93, 96, 03, 10, 16

Don’t forget 79, 83, 00, 06. Even though the good one in 06 was gone by noon

How long do you think it takes surface temps to warm to ambient?  Especially with March sun angle.
