I live just east of the fall line on the border of Arlington/Alexandria and its mostly rain (with some sleet/snow mixing in that I can hear against the window now). It snowed the entire drive home (heaviest in Garrett and Allegany counties)...it was just starting to accumulate on I-68 in Garrett County as we left around noon but other than that, 68/70/270 were just wet. Not much accumulation on the ground after Allegany county. I stopped for gas in Meyersville and it was moderate snow, car thermometer said 34 degrees, and it had just started to accumulate on mulch/grass there. How is it out by you? I hope you guys do well. We have about 3/4 inch and the rates have just started to pick back up again. I always loved driving into Tysons from here during snow storms when I worked down that way. It was so cool to see the change in precip types while driving to the east. I hope you guys down by the city can score some heavy snow later. It is always more fun when everyone is getting hit.
Chris78
Light snow currently. 31 degrees. Had about .5 on the deck prior to the rates letting up,over the past hour. Looks like I've lost about half of it to melting during the lesser rates.

SnowCane
Dusting on the grass now in Gaithersburg. At this point I refuse to look at models and just live in unfounded optimism believing that it'll stay snow. On another note, man this is a strong system. It's been a long time since we've seen so many tornado warnings with confirmed large tornadoes on the ground.

clskinsfan
4:00 update: .7 inches. OK. Now we are talking. It has really started to pick up here over the past 15 minutes. Skies have darkened considerably. I am curious to see how quickly the roads cave as the sun sets. Beautiful outside right now.

I was just going to say that places that are getting snow, it should be getting easier to accumulate as we have heavier returns moving in from the west and the Sun beginning to set.

North Balti Zen
With rates has been all snow in my part of balt city up past Hopkins - maybe a slushy inch - roads and sidewalks just wet. Frankly, more than I was expecting just seeing snow and not rain fall.
