Imagine how much worse it would be in a week with DST! Good thing this happened today! - We say this crap every year! Need rates and snow at night! 35/30 here - some intermittent spits of flurries.
Fozz
12z RGEM is a bit more realistic now. Similar to the previous run, but with QPF toned down.

You’re making the case. 38F and/or March sun angle combined with light rates are why it’s not sticking. Just sayin’...

87storms
The first part of this system is suspect. The good stuff is later, but tbd on whether temps will cooperate around town.
real
No precipitation yet downtown dc. People walking around with spring jackets on. Really doesn’t seem like accumulating snow is possible even up at end of the Red line (Shady Grove) but good luck
peribonca
GFS is torching. Wonder if this is the type of system that would have been modeled as a big snowstorm in the cities 10-15 years ago and then busted hard... At least with the better models nowadays we have more realistic expectations
mappy
LWX lower totals yet?
ChangeYourScreenname
The biggest question at this point is how much temps can fall under the very heavy rates projected. GFS and NAM warm everyone to near 36-40. Dynamic cooling should be decent. That's TBD yet 37 here in bel air dew point is in the 20s tho
ChangeYourScreenname
Hrdps Much better at the surface 32-33 heavy snow does the work

RDM
41/31 - dp was up to 32 a few mins ago. If the dp was lower that would certainly help. Saw a post earlier from a Pro Met about the sounding at IAD with the drier layer aloft. Hope that bodes well for at least some white rain here in NOVA. As is, don't see us getting much of anything IVO of MBY. You folks up on Parr's Ridge and NW of MOCO should be setting good. Looks to be some decent rates later on today...
