Box has gust 65-70 for elevated ORH county down into NE CT/NW RI

.SHORT TERM /6 AM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/...
*** Damaging Winds & Scattered Power Outages Likely ***

Trough amplification continues over the Maritimes with low pressure
deepening to about 970 mb. Meanwhile upstream Arctic high pressure
of 1040 mb over the High Plains yields a 70 mb pressure gradient
into New England. This provides a strong wind field across the
region. All models showing 850 mb winds increasing from about 50 kt
at 12z to 65 kt by 00z Tue. Meanwhile model soundings reveal dry
adiabatic lapse rates up to 850 mb all day tomorrow. Taking the
average wind speed in the blyr yields frequent gusts tomorrow of 55-
65 mph with the strongest winds likely in the 1 pm to 4 pm window.
Wouldn`t be surprised if a few gusts top 70 mph! Thus expecting a
fairly widespread high wind event with at least scattered power
outages if not more widespread. Therefore High Wind Warnings remain
posted for all areas

May need to even take the over

I really hope it doesn’t take down trees here.  I really don’t need this.  We have a gargantuan pine on one corner of our property that someday will topple.  Won’t hit any houses, but will def take down power lines and block the road.  Almost 2 foot diameter.

Is it upwind of the wires?

Our house is surrounded by towering white pines but luckily there is a sizable hill about a 1/4mi behind the house that blocks strong winds from the NW, SW and W.

It's a good setup for wind but I don't think most of us see the impressive numbers out of WNY from this afternoon. Wind is one of my fraud five in the interior. I bet the ASH ASOS doesn't gust  much above 40 kts.

ASH can be a pit, but I'll take the over. But yeah, there was no chance we were going to see those W NY winds that come roaring off the lakes.

Ya I gotta admit...the title is great!  Cracked me up when I saw it.

Winds usually disappoint here most times..but this one might be a different beast??  We’ll see? Well mixed up to 850...that doesn’t happen very often around here!

And as I type this a good gust just came through here lol...here we go!

Maybe we'll see a rogue 45 kt gust but I think 50+ kts is a pipe dream. We'll see.
