I came out at 12.8:1 but that seems low. Eyeballing CoCoRaHS reports...Wolfie posted a screenshot of both counties here earlier...most seemed to be 15-20:1.

CNY-LES FREAK
Super super heavy snow right now falling here just north of the Great Northern Mall in southern Oswego County. Vis is probably down to a thousand feet or so if that, but the band seems to be moving right along and it may just pass me by, lol!Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
CNY_WX
S+ here in Brewerton. 4.1 inches in the first round hopefully we can at least match that in this round.

CNY-LES FREAK
Move around quite a bit but it wasn't supposed to get this far North, unpredictable. 4 minutes ago, Syrmax said: is this progged to stay north of us tonight or move around?
CNY_WX
I thought Channel 9 on their noon news said it was going to stay south of us all afternoon. 1 minute ago, CNY-LES FREAK said: Move around quite a bit but it wasn't supposed to get this far North, unpredictable. TugHillMatt
I would love to see the band hit during the day. Seriously, every one of our heavier events has hit at night. They started usually with Sw flow during the afternoons, then shift West in the evenings, then NW overnight. I actually meant to ask if this is a common set up with different variables, or just coincidence.

wolfie09
Check the 3k on TT, it's a firehouse until tomorrow afternoon, never staying in one place for more then a couple hours, the band is just stronger to the north.
CNY_WX
The intensity has picked up again in the last few minutes even though we’re on the southern edge of the band.

CNY-LES FREAK
So that NWS map from KBUF can be thrown out the window and we can put the 12+ amounts North in Central and Northern Oswego county!

CNY-LES FREAK
Don't ask me how we have a west wind flow with a surface map like this, nuts, seriously.

Phillifan22
What you’ve noted is not a coincidence. Studies have shown lake effect tends to weaken during the day (especially in late fall and early spring when daylight is longer and the sun angle is higher). This weakening is caused by a decrease in the temperature contrast as the air above and around the lake (as well as the land) warm. It goes back to the fundamental of lake effect, cold air over a warm lake. I would love to see the band hit during the day. Seriously, every one of our heavier events has hit at night.
