Gastonwxman
Yes, quite strange to be seeing lots of lightning and hearing thunder......and having temperatures only in the upper 30s, atm. Why can't it just be cold enough to get some thundersnow going? Now that would've been a surprise for tonight...
MarvelMountain
Lightning show at 35 degrees last evening from 6 to 10. Heavy rain on and off all night. Still raining and 39 degrees. Total since Tuesday afternoon, Over 4 inches. Total for two weeks, over 8 inches. Total since January 1st, 14 inches. The creeks are all full. WSchew
Elevated t-storms and the temperature inversion caused lots of loud thunder last night. The sound waves were bouncing around like a pinball machine between cold air at the surface and the warm layer aloft. Up to 40 degrees this morning, lets see if the wedge holds. kvegas-wx
Let me put this mildly, it is beyond obsurd that Blacksburg hasnt issued flash flood warnings yet for at a minimum the border counties. I just drove back from Stuart and the Dan River is out of its banks around Danbury. The surface water flowing across roads is crazy and there are already trees uprooting, and it hasnt even got windy yet! This has the makings of a severe power outage event if it gets even slightly windy tomorrow.
