DeltaT13
I don't really even consider this a lake effect band. It's certainly picking up some moisture and frictional convergence from the lake/land interface but that band exists before it gets to Erie. I I suppose its originating off Huron, but it just seems somewhat synoptically driven in the cyclonic flow behind yesterdays storm. Either way, a great hybrid event that certainly caught me by surprise (just one day after I said the weather never surprises me anymore!) I expected some snow showers today but not blinding snow and 3 inch an hour rates in the ROC.
WNash
Nice surprise in that squall, probably 2”/ hr at its peak. We had perhaps 5” since sunrise - hard to be certain because of the wind.
rochesterdave
Crazy stuff. That band coming into BUF is lit
rochesterdave
Picked up a couple of unexpected inches in Roc. The ice cap is now covered with fluff. It will be a miracle if I don’t bust my ass walking the hounds tonight!

CNY-LES FREAK
Its absolute pound town for us right now and has been for the past hr and a half. Easy 2-2.5"/hr right now and it looks to continue, nice surprise cause this wasn't forecasted.Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Buffalo Bumble
About to head home from Akron. 8-10” powder during the day, 3’ drifts in front of my truck in parking lot. And still ripping.
CNY_WX
Been absolutely pounding here for the last hour. The last squall causing this is about to move through then we’ll have to wait to see if the lake band moves far enough south to give me some love. lakeeffectkid383
Picked up 3.5” in West Seneca. That band ripped but it also was short lived. More than I was expecting though so I’ll take it. Puts me over 90” on the season now.
wolfie09
Pretty sweet band right now, tug getting crushed.. Cant have a lake effect event without some graupel mixing in lol
SouthBuffaloSteve
Great event today! Another forecast challenge and an over achiever! For as rough as this season started the last 3 1/2 weeks has been incredible. No block busters... A thorn in our side with the lake freezing up it still has shaped up to a nice and now active winter. Wish we kept this snow pack around instead of the constant thaws and rains... All in all I’m content at this point and have my winter fill until next fall. Hard to measure with the drifting but averaging 5.0” from today. Not bad for a forecasted non event.
