BuffaloWeather
Looks like I have to wait until tomorrow to get into the band. Most likely chasing up north tonight. Lake effect snow will remained focus on the Buffalo metro area Wednesday morning before shifting slowly southward through midday Wednesday. After this, the band will remain somewhere between the Buffalo Southtowns and the Boston Hills Wednesday afternoon through Thursday.

DeltaT13
Sorry to side track from the real weather going on. I just graphed the elevation change from the Erie Shore, through Batavia to downtown Rochester (unfortunately its in meters). Anyway, you can see that long downslope from Batava to Rochester. Thats what really does us in. I mean its already a losing battle the further inland you are, but to have a downslope puts the nail in the coffin. Can you do the same for that starting point to Walworth?

BuffaloWeather
There will be a tight gradient in snow amounts and overall conditions, with areas south and east of the airport seeing little weather - even some sunshine, while areas to the NW get pummeled with periods of blinding snow. Snow rates may be on the order of 1-2"/hr, particularly while the airmass aloft is still relatively warm and crossing the dendritic growth region. Put in some initial snow amounts of 3-6" for today, but these might be on the low side if the band remains in a steady state. The band *should* move a little to the north in the afternoon. This evening, the arctic front plows through and the band may break up or move around a bit like an uncontrolled end of a fire hose, before settling down over the Buffalo Metro area, the airport, and ENE into NW Genesee, southern Olean and even into Monroe County where an advisory was for overnight into Wednesday. AppsRunner
Already a 6" and 4" out of downtown and Williamsville, respectively. Temporary disorganization for now before things start to get intense later this evening.
lakeeffectkid383
Those winds are really going SSW a lot more than I had anticipated. Just surprised to see how far north the snow is even if it is disorganized. Guess the NAM was right about that when it first showed that a couple days ago. CNY-LES FREAK
Not even a flower here in Syracuse as I just came back from Rochester Phelps where it was snowing not early in fact got back to Syracuse not even a flurry . If this keeps up Syracuse is going to end the year perhaps with record low snowfall! In fact unless we have a blockbuster February and at least some snow in March I think below-normal snowfall is a lock this yearSent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
