michsnowfreak
While this Winter has been far from my preferred Winter, I can certainly say it's been active. From Jan 17-Feb 23 i will have had 20" of snow, 3 ice storms, temp ranges of 56° to -15° (wind chills -40°), and hurricane force winds.

IWXwx
I'm guessing that there's nothing wrong with IND's ASOS. It's just not used to 57KT wind gusts INDIANAPOLIS,IN (IND) ASOS (Caution: Maintenance Check Indicator) reports gust of 57.0 knots from W @ 1204Z KIND 241244Z 26031G42KT 10SM SCT027 OVC033 03/M02 A2960 RMK AO2 PK WND 26057/1204 RAB20E34 P0000 T00281017 $ The GUS ASOS is showing the the same maintenance caution with a 63 MPH gust. Other than that, the highest gusts I've seen reported in Indiana are 64 MPH at GSH, 63 MPH at GYY, and several in the 58-62 MPH range.

Chambana
Really hoping the temps being modeled to open March are way overdone. Have to imagine with absolutely no snowpack, and the fact it’s March would make 0 hard to achieve.

cyclone77
Been getting 45-55mph wind gusts all morning. Some have probably been close to 60mph. DVN topped out at 62mph earlier, and MLI has hit 59mph. The snow pack has been reduced to about 2-3" of frozen crust.

Hoosier
Surface low seems to have deepened a little on the slower end. So while the gusts have been pretty impressive, may have seen even a few mph higher in that outcome.

Second weekend in about 4 where the snow will get nuked. Lets see if my MI Snow Freak pile can hold up. I'll be glad to have the walkway clear of the ice though! Wish the Feb sun could have done work there this week. Mt. MSF help up. I'm shocked how well we kept some ice pack - figured for sure we'd have open spots in the cover. Last evening the fog was legit thick.

Chinook
Parts of the Midwest have gotten 175% to over 300% of normal snowfall since January 1st. IWXwx
Sam Lashley at IWX had to do some digging, but he posted some numbers that point out how anomalous the wind event was for FWA. Between 1/1/1948 and 2/24/2019, 54 observations have reported a wind gust of 50 knots or greater. Of the 54, 16 occurred on the 24th (30%). That's out of 905,000 observations. The highest reading yesterday was 56 knots.
