Driving south from DC down 395 the progression was roughly:

Before 3:10 - all or almost all rain
3:15 - Flipped to mostly snow around Seminary Rd
3:35 - got home to SSW Franconia/Kingstowne, mulch and some grass accumulation

Now (4pm) - car has been topped, starting to stick to pavement

Expectations exceeded for south of town.

Can confirm timing/conditions on all the above...currently 33/31, air temp dropped from 37 at 3 p.m. hour (when I left Fort Belvoir). Oh, and it's doing this:

When things were unclear as late as this morning my bar for this event became 2. Looks like will end up around 3 so I'll take it. I was just hoping to have something on the ground for the arctic blast so Ill call this a success. Give me a good squall tomorrow and another 2 inches on friday then this week will be a win for sure.

Just drove from Gaithersburg to Rockville and roads were definitely becoming covered.  If y’all pass a slow car with an Alabama license plate just go around, not used to driving in the snow yet ha.

Germantown but started in gaithersburg moving from Louisiana. Us southerners will never get used to it.

Interesting how the NWS expanded the WWA to the sw and west this late in the game (was posted at 3:26pm), just as the western edge started to pivot to the east.   Seems a bit late unless they know something we don't.  I don't detect any back filling on the radar, but someone earlier did mention the HRR showed some potential wraparound later, albeit for the eastern side of the beltway and east of there.  (the DC beltway)
