Post Arctic front snow Tuesday, Jan 29

Here's a nice little snippet from the GSP afternoon AFD.  This is intended only for those who still hold out hope of seeing a flake or two tomorrow.  It may boost your spirits.

East of the mountains, still expect the best overlap of lingering moisture and
falling snow levels to support some snow accumulations out along the
Interstate 40 corridor before precip ends. There is not enough
confidence for an advisory in this area, but stay tuned as this
could change quickly. Cannot rule out a brief window of snow showers
even from GSP to Charlotte just before the precipitation ends, but
little to no accums are expected along the I-85 area.

I’m not sure this is gonna happen. Temps are still in the mid 40s and raining where it should be close to snowing. It doesn’t seem like the cold air  is advancing quick enough.

From what I’ve heard the cold front goes through first then the moisture. Kinda backwards if you ask me.

Man,  I can now see there are very few ga posters left here.  It may only be a very light event but there is some snow coming and this thread is dead as a door nail.  Wow

Still here, just watching and reading.  I don't have much to contribute to the meteorological discussion and this wasn't the banter or Obs thread.

We don't have a ton of little birds frantically stuffing their faces, and zero juncos to be found amongst the birds I have tabulated the last two days here.  So that would hint it's not going to be Snowmaggedon.

back to lurking ...

I’ve had a few Juncos at the feeder, but also lots of robins, spring is near! Looks like I get a rainy cold front tomorrow! :(

Good god, I’m sorry... but in my winters spent in the south... I would of never thought we’d be tracking snow like summer times storms. It’s almost comical. Winters have really gotten bad in the SE. I hope some of us are able to score something though. I guess on a positive note, we technically have a good 5 weeks left of winter left. Never throw in the towel until absolutely necessary.

I've had my doubts about this type of set up. Seen it once or twice back in the day while in NC.

Never rely on a front to bring snow. Especially with the surface low well too the north.

Too much WAA ahead near the surface.

But for LA, MS, Al, GA. This a crash and burn situation. Radar doesn't look promising with convection behind/along the front.
