Didn’t realize anyone got that much It occurred around 9 PM if I remember correctly, I’d never seen that much snow pile up so rapidly, it was pretty intense. etudiant
Here in Manhattan Central Park, a brief but intense event, with perhaps 0.75 inches of snow deposited in a half hour. Winds probably around 30 mph at peak. Think it was called very accurately by the various observers here.
psv88
The winds were very impressive, 45/50 at least

Cfa
15-ish minutes of moderate to heavy snow and the sun looks like it’s coming back out now, just in time for sunset. Temp has plummeted from 33 to 23 in 17 minutes.
JustinRP37
The accumulation of salt on the roads is more than the accumulation of snow. It is actually impressive how much salt there is everywhere. It is like NY is trying to show us just how much snow they were ready for for this year. The first 5-10 minutes just melted and wet the ground when it was 33 degrees. That base layer flash froze on untreated surfaces with a coating of snow on top. Very slippery here in SW Suffolk and down to 24 degrees.

Up here (I can actually say that now lol), doesn't look like much melted and we have snowcovered everything. Probably a half inch and blowing around. It might actually be better for driving than a situation like yours.
NorthShoreWx
It built to nice and heavy which was pretty nice to see, then for 3 minutes it was a true whiteout. Maybe 15 or 20 minutes total. I've got some video to edit down. NorthShoreWx
My money for the golden squall award is on east central CT roughly from Colchester to Mansfield. They seem to be catching a little of the Atlantic moisture in advance of the arctic fropa.
Juliancolton
Pretty wimpy in Rhinebeck, NY, on the top of Burger Hill (exposed elevation with roughly 400 feet of prominence). I had no trouble standing in the strongest gusts, and vis never dropped below about 100 meters. Still exciting to watch the scud and blowing snow envelop the Catskills and Hudson River.
