If you look at December we didn't get anything in terms of winter weather. My comment was not about the pattern and the differences in the pattern from 2011-2018-19. It's all good but the perception of it, it makes it feel like 2011. Even January up until now wasn't that good. OK. Move on, I meant no harm. canderson
Harrisburg officially hit -4 (not MDT, but HBG proper/Capital City Airport). My -1 was when I looked at 6:45 (I can't measure max/min, I should look into a real weather station I guess).

CarlislePaWx
Reached -0.4F right at midnight, but then the temp rose back up to between +1 and +2 where it hung out for the next six hours until around 6AM when it slowly began to fall again. It kept on falling until it reached my low of -4.7F about 20 minutes after sunrise, or about 7:40am. That reading was within a few tenths of a degree of either tying or breaking my all-time recorded low since moving here in 2000. I think I only dropped to around -2 back in Jan of 2015. I've had a couple of zero to -1 lows as well. Conditions to radiate were perfect in that hour or so before sunrise, so of course it had to wait until then when I had the entire night. With dew points around -15 the bottom really could have fallen out with a deeper snowpack and calmer winds. Oh well. Speaking of predictions for snow tomorrow NWS is forecasting less than one inch for me. Haha. Guess we'll see how that one turns out. I like bubbler's better. I am going out on the limb by an inch and if I see 18Z runs dry up at all I am going to adjust but my thought is a similar trajectory to the qpf as shown below and remembering we are getting at least 20-1 ratios maybe even close to 25-1. I may have to remove MDT from the 2-3" if the 12Z trend continues to move the focus to Southern PA and N MD. Hopefully NWS at least goes 1-2 for the Western Side of the LSV to keep awareness up. Bubbler86
WWA's issued for Adams and Franklin but they skipped around MAG for some reason. Watching the trends on the models today I feel the northward extent of the 2-3" snow is going to be pulled back a bit vs. what it appeared this morning but still going for a slight over performer with high ratios and lots of issues with roads...final call :-). Mag, Bubbler, Cashtown- 3-4" Nut, Itstrainingtime, Daxx, Carlisle-1-2" closer to 2. 2001KX, Canderson, Atomic, Sauss- 1-2" closer to 1. Voyager, Wmsptwx-Trace Edited to correct Voyager forecast. 5:00PM

Wmsptwx-Trace Cambria County to my west is in the Laurel's where they can squeeze out more snow in setups like this on the ridges. Although I live pretty much at the bottom of the eastern leading ridge of the Laurel's. I'm at about 1300' elevation and you take the road a block down the street 5 miles up that mountain and your at the top on the county line and at >2400'. Sometimes I can do almost as well with the close proximity but I think the slightly greater QPF is going to favor the ridges in the southern half of Cambria. I personally expect about 2" here. The wave fades southeast so will have to see how far it reaches into the Sus Valley, plus there may be a little bit of downscoping in play. The 1" line is probably going to run close or maybe even slightly SW of a State College to H-burg line. This should be a really high ratio snow, CTP expects 20:1 type ratios. Moderating temps aloft should put the 850-700mb level pretty much in the ideal DGZ range -12 to 18ºC, where there's not a ton of lift with this really weak wave but it's where it needs to be for good ratios and surface temps remain plenty cold. I kind of hope not, although my HS group probably does. I'm taking a busload of high school kids from Freeland over to Blue Mountain Ski Area tomorrow night. I've got some pretty decent mountain roads to traverse to get from our shop to the high school and then to the ski lodge. An inch will be just enough with this cold to make it a bit treacherous. Thanks. I like that terminology...the wave fades. I have never used that but it sounds goods. Downsloping is certainly a concern I had when making those predictions but if the wave can stay somewhat near the Mason Dixon I was thinking the support will be there to still push between .05 and .1" of qpf up toward areas near and maybe slightly north of MDT. Really I think 1/2" would still be treacherous tomorrow. The GFS has lollipops of .05-.1 qpf totals in your neck of the woods...the Mesos do not so it could go either way. You get .05 of qpf fallen (not evap) you will break 1" tomorrow unless it is snizzle spread out of 6 hours. LOL. Edit-My apologies. You are one county further north west that I was thinking. My geography failed me. This AM I thought you would get over an inch but not with the trend today.
