Splitting up storm threads -- yea or nay?

We used to create part 2, part 3, etc. storm threads after getting to around 1000 posts.  Should that continue or do you prefer all storm discussion to be in one thread?  Vote in the poll and post any comments if you'd like.  I will leave the voting open until 1 am central time.

I get the point of having a super thread but I wouldn't mind busting it up either.

I voted for one. Although, a two part would make sense for a "forecasting discussion". Then the "Its happening" observations and real time discussion thread.

I voted to not split the threads, but obviously there must be a reason why some would prefer it.  Since I've been a member here splitting the storm threads was pretty common, but I never really knew why and kind of went along with it.  What is the reasoning behind it?

For one, it was said that very large threads placed stress on the server.  Haven't heard that in a while though so maybe it's not as much of a concern these days.

Oic.  If that's the case I'd def be in favor of it to help keep the site humming along.

I agree with this idea, although I also voted for one thread.
