wolfie09
Still cautiously optimistic, need to wait on some meso's. The 12z euro had a mainly W-WSW wind while the Ukmet is nearly due west for the duration and GFS para was mostly WNW lol I myself am going all in on the ukie
wolfie09
GFS looked better for that day 7 system, bringing the system south of us.. NWS has all snow at the moment..
CNY-WXFREAK
Rochester's already up to 31F so that already means we're doomed, lol, with lots of liq precip rather than zr! The pack we have can suck up at least an 1" of liq and still be ok so thats probably the only silver lining in this debacle. From Arctic air then in 1 day up to the low 40's, lol! CNY-WXFREAK
Sorry to say this but we're getting a shit load of rain in the small amount of time it does rain, so that sucks and its just funny how it happens to precipitate the hardest when its warmest, understandable but annoying! wolfie09
The euro just like the gfs has several opportunities for snow over the next 10 days..

BuffaloWeather
RGEM has a nice band of LES across Central/Southern Erie county for the last 12 hours of its run.
BuffaloWeather
This is very similar too. Be interesting to see what the mesos say today into tomorrow for the event. Really hoping for one last hurrah from the southtowns to the city.
BuffaloWeather
@Thinksnow18 Did you see the in house models from any of the networks? Do they also show it going that far north? The NAM starts SW and quickly goes W/WNW during Friday then going SW on Saturday an weakening the band.

Still 24 here so there’s a ways to go before I hit the freezing mark. Had 0.3 inch of snow/graupel and sleet overnight. Currently light freezing rain with an occasional pinger mixed in. Yeah Mike has backed off considerably on the LES potential for the weekend in the Metro. He is now looking at Sunday afternoon for our next snow change with accums Sunday night. wolfie09
I know you can't expect much but globals look like crap lol Heck the GFS doesn't even have a West wind anymore lol Nam has pretty much no lake effect at all, just a quick moving transient band.. At least we have those europeans
TugHillMatt
Seriously...I was checking models, and it looks like ANOTHER Nw flow quickly transitioning to SW flow. Why can't we get a good WESTERLY flow this winter?!? This pattern. Grrr

GrrrYeah weird when you read the KBUF discussion they are hyping a up a big event for your area but none of the models really support the idea. Maybe this is where the human factor comes into play? I know they keep talking about the convergence zone setting up down the length of Ontario maybe it’s not really picked up well by the computer? And on the flip side they down play any activity of Erie but if anything the models seem to show a nicer response coming of Erie. I’ll be interested to line up all the midday runs and see what the general consensus is... .
wolfie09
Euro and Ukmet FTW lol I would guess kbuf is going with pattern recognition over what global models show verbatim.. I've also noticed some models like the Fv3 retract the band once winds turn Westerly..

CNY-WXFREAK
Yeah I don't know what happened but the LES event vanished from all guidance, lol, except EURO and I wouldn't depend on that for LES but ya never know! WOW, WTF cant get a westerly flow event for shit, crazy! I think Westerly needs to change his screen name fir sure!
