January 26, 1978?

14-18 inches of snow when a quick change from snow to rain was predicted.

I never get that-they did that with a tropical storm a few years ago-still called for big winds even though it had faded east enough to end that threat  Aug '21 maybe?

I was in torture living 1800 miles away at the time. The potential was really there but in a Miller B situation getting that to NYC would've required a picture perfect setup but the usual late development killed it.

It was Jan 21st 1978. Woke up to about 17 inches of snow.

5 days later, the "Ohio Valley Bomb" as it was nicknamed washed most of it away.
