caviman2201
Can someone explain to me high-level how the operational run differs from an ensemble control member? Is it just higher resolution or does it get different inputs?

Ensembles are run at lower resolution but with slightly different data inputs.

When they diverge in the medium range it decreases confidence in the op. The higher resolution of the op can magnify or compound errors in initial conditions as you go out in time. PrinceFrederickWx
Was there a significant snowstorm in this region sometime in January 1988? (not 1987- I know about 1987) My mom came across some pictures of us and my father and it appears to be around that time. It's a lot of snow in the pictures, looks like around 6-8" at least. NCDC site is down because of the shutdown so I can't look it up.
Rvarookie
It may be the alcohol talking or me trying to bank some karma for the big one down the road, but I’d sacrifice few inches here in RIC to see our northern crew catch a little love from this one. MillvilleWx
I love snow and back home so much I’m up at 6am on my day off looking at stuff to give a forecast for something that will occur 1600-1800 miles away. And I’m furloughed today since I’m off lol. I love weather and snow.
