This is no Ithaca up here, not even close. Plenty of synoptic snows and being on the east slope have decent CAD and those synoptic storms have good upslope assist with the SE flow ahead of most of them. Now the western slope is more like what Will is describing. They get higher ratio fluff than here and also downslope on SE flow...so can often be screwed in synoptic storms. They get the 50-60mph winds along with 30% of the QPF while here on the east side it's calm and dumping in anything with Atlantic moisture moving inland.
