This is a lot of fun (and likely more than I should be having while working). Thank god i can multitask. When I cant, I'll probably not be able to sell....so I'll just sit here and talk weather w/ you weenies. The great thing it is a weekend superstorm and we can enjoy it without working! djr5001
Since short term models are getting close to their ranges - just a reminder that HRRR does run out to 36 hours for the 0/6/12/18z runs so today's 18z run has an interesting look to it despite only running out to 6z Sunday. That is a good reminder about those "on hour" model runs. The HRR is not jiving with the UK and Euro. Much more Nam looking.
Itstrainingtime
17 year old daughter just asked if I'm up to take her to Roundtop to get some shreds in tomorrow night since I already told her she wasn't driving over there. So...Father of the year or do I play it smart? I told her not to plan on going. It won't be safe (translation - I'll be weenie-ing out)

Honestly, what is the percentage of big storms that hit on weekends? It's incredible. I can remember 2/10/2010 being midweek, but we sure have gotten most on weekends. Bubbler86
So not familiar with GTG. Rgem was quite a bit south and more snow for Northern LSV.

Bubbler86
Stuff I find interesting... 18Z RGEM, at 7AM Sunday, has two distinct areas of lower pressure right beside each other. One over Lancaster and one on the border of PA and Central NJ. Stuff like this makes forecasting this situation almost impossible. In the image below the area over Lancaster is just a circle while in the next frame it becomes the lower pressured of the two areas and the low appears to jump back 50-100 miles. paweather
GFS is still way to warm for LSV. Gotta start looking at the short term models.

jm1220
Will be interesting to see how far north the sleet makes it, enough to cut into accums. The 850 low track makes me think it gets to State College and maybe Williamsport for a time. The WAA aloft is often undermodeled. Should be a really nice event for all north of the Turnpike though. Enjoy.

Bubbler86
Looks like MDT broke into the upper 30's today. That could be 30-35 degrees warmer than this time Monday.

KPITSnow
So I mean, since the temps on the gfs are so much warmer than just about any other major model, can we toss it?
