Solstice Storm Discussion/Obs

Firehose definitely looks to be setting up over Suffolk and Western CT. Pretty significant bust by the short range models given this is happening about 75 miles east of 12Z yesterday. If this were a winter storm we'd all be freaking out. Although the city looks to finish right around 2", which can't be called a bust.

Nice meso vort headed for suffolk over the next hour. Crazy winds aloft upwards of 85KT at 4000-5000'. Curious to see if any of this makes it to the surface.

What is this feature currently passing through central Suffolk?  Almost looks like outflow.   GW?

Essentially a low level front associated with the LLJ, Notice winds to its east are SE and G30-40KT and to the west of it are much lighter from the S. These are the kinds of things that cause severe wind shear (that we saw at LGA earlier).

back edge to philly already-this will be over for most here by 3pm give or take.

The NAM and RGEM redevelop convection this afternoon within the dry slot so we have to see what happens, but the main slug should be through at least the city by early afternoon.

Really looks like there's a gravity wave in there too

the nam was too far west... again

Could you imagine this happening with a snowstorm lol? It would be a repeat of the Jan 2015 storm where both the NAM and EURO were saying we were going to get 30-40 inches of snow and the 30" totals were out at Orient Pt lol.  We got our 30 incher the following January though :P
