NJwx85
Currently 29 degrees here with light snow. Already a light dusting on all surfaces.
Juliancolton
Some mood flakes here... if that mood is utter disgust at freezing our arses off for two weeks to earn a smattering of mood flakes.
RU848789
Everywhere along and S of 78 is now above 32F, so unlikely to see much, if any, accumulations in this area, given fairly light precip rates. Wouldn't expect to see much on the ground and certainly on the roads south of 80 (except maybe NW Morris and northern Warren, especially at the higher elevations). Radar looking decent north of 80, though - will be interesting to see if the moderate snow moves south of 80. Interesting that the HRRR is showing dry conditions for all of NJ for the next couple of hours, which obviously represents poor initialization. Toekneeweather
I see anything north of yonkers getting at least an inch. It seems like the precipitation is stalling right around midtown. The atmosphere is definitely juiced up now

BxEngine
One of my snowboards is covered but not measurable. Other one was licked clean by my boxer who apparently still wants to adhere to the 6 hr technique.

LongBeachSurfFreak
Pretty cool here on the uws, snowing at the tops of the tallest buildings, 300’+ but light rain at the surfaces with a few flakes. Melting is occurring very close to the surface.
RU848789
Has anyone not at over 1000' had more than 1/2"? Haven't seen anyone reporting much measurable snow yet and radar looks very weak now...

Maybe they are ahead of us in the winter forecast whereas they see the rest of the winter as snowless, so they are trying to unload. JK

This same thing happened with that little squall that came over before Thanksgiving. It's unfortunate that from now on, even minor events like this will be over hyped by the media and the DOT will continue dumping too much salt/sand. Oh it was amazing, trucks just pouring the stuff out and that was after they brined the whole place last night and late yesterday afternoon. You can pretty much hear the cars rotting when you're in a parking lot.

The thing is today’s event had a chance of busting high and being 6”+ .00000001% and the November event by say 10%. That one came down to temps not available precipitation. So there really is no excuse for dumping loads of salt. Being that I’m in the horticulture industry my mind went right to vegetation but there are a ton of other negative consequences. Vehicles, pets and local waterways are just a few. We aren’t talking the same salt you sprinkle on food.

Let's see how many gazillion years it takes to clean up the Gowanus.
