Windspeed
Still sitting at 40° for four straight hours near Bristol. Kind of surprised it hasn't dropped a little at least. I'm sure it will start falling once the precip picks up.

John1122
On the models with 6-9 inches here the changeover was modeled to happen at 3am. On the epic NAM run that dropped 14 inches here it changed over at 11. Looks like the 11pm full change should occur here.
BlunderStorm
It's all so close and yet it's a ghost town up here still. An occasional snowflake passes by every minute or two. I'm expecting it to really ramp up out of nowhere. I sure hope this is my last nada report haha!
Windspeed
Light snow continues to fall with a little bit of sleet mixed. 37 now. I don't think we're going to see any rain at all now. All frozen at this point. Edit: Make that 35° now. Temp is falling fast. I would still consider light snow but it has definitely picked up the pace. Game on... BlunderStorm
19 minutes ago, PowellVolz said: How you going up with virga? . Downslope off of Clinch Mountain maybe? It's not like I'm right next to it though. It took me forever to figure out what the Nam 3km, and HRRR were doing and now it all makes sense. Downslope. If you check the latest HRRR and look into SWVA you should be able to see it clear as day. Well that theory doesn't make sense on the ground at least. winds are coming from the NE at 4mph therefore it would not be as a result of downslope from Clinch mountain. Then again the wind direction could be drastically different further up in the atmosphere thus likely being the result of downslope. Then again if it were downslope I would see a rise in temperatures here which I am but the winds at the surface are not in that direction. I don't know I guess the clouds don't like me. lol. John1122
I'm at 33.5 with slop falling. All raised surfaces are slush coated but there's a warm layer in there somewhere. I drove up to 2500 feet and it's slush falling there too. So 925 is also above freezing.
1234snow
Interestingly the correlation coefficient line moved well south of Kingsport at the start but is now back to the state line. Very useful tool on RadarScope.
John1122
Absolutely pouring mix now. I'm hoping not but feeling the GFS might take home the win here. I've seen a lot of systems here but I've never seen one be a rain/snow true mix for hours on end. It usually either goes one way or another. If the rates are what they are now and it's not changing over I'm not sure what it will take. There's no dry air to ingest at this point and there is not great cold to the north to tap. Plus the precip type here and 800+ feet above me is also troubling. Maybe making too much of it, but not liking what I'm seeing so far.
