Aircraft sounding from Raleigh (RDU) at 1107 pm showed the surface based warm layer was about 1200 ft thick. The second above freezing level at around 4,200 ft will cool with saturation. Once precipitation commences, it won't talk too long to get some snow to the suface. #ncwx https://t.co/o9A5UkYyE6

Right now there's a heavy band moving through Gastonia heading our way. Should reach us in the next 30 minutes or so. We should see precipitation with that. If not, I'm not sure what's going on above our heads.

And 3 minutes after I sent that, I have snowflakes reaching the ground at my place.
