Might mean I can sneak in a dusting if it can continue to push north. I'm on the border of Arlington/Alexandria in Fairlington.

I was working in the Accu-weather office that winter on a business project and probably sitting next to JB when this storm happened (he got so excited even then). Maybe there was a similar cutoff with that storm as I don't think it snowed in State College PA. I remember that storm painfully well. It didn't snow down here near the Mason/Dixon line either. I was 14 at the time and thought I'd be traumatized for life.

The Ole Bucket
A few measuring sticks courtesy of a local met. Can verify that it's definitely 7-8" here in Charlottesville. Major overperformer in our area.
weathercoins
Not that it wasn’t expected, but still pretty in awe of this cutoff. Can jump in a car and drive ten fifteen minutes to see flurries, twenty minutes to see a coating, thirty minutes and see an inch of two (and within a bit more a nice snowstorm). You won't see it until the final CLI is sent around 1:30am, but it shatters the daily snowfall record of 1.8" set in 1988 and already puts December 2018 in the top 10 snowiest.
