Iceagewhereartthou
After a low of 30, had a high of 35. Had dropped back down to 33 but now back to 34. Waiting on more rain!

Also, some areas of the NW Piedmont did so in 2009-2010 (12/29 storm and the 1/30 storm). I suspect several locations accomplished this feat during the winter of 1986-1987. I was thinking 86-87(actually I was fairly certain about that one) but was on the fence about the others. I usually go on the premise of you usually get one shot at a good one around here per year and we’re not even really in winter.
jshetley
Many places in the northwest piedmont of NC got 2 6+ events in 1987. 1-1-1987 and 1-22-1987. Some areas up there got a third one. 1-25-1987.

You can find a lot of examples of multiple 2-4” storms, but not many multiple 6” storms. 6” storms are “big storms” in NC outside the mountains, so they don’t happen that commonly. Of course, if you already have snow on the ground. If you don't have a snow cover, it will be rate dependent.

PackGrad05
The upper level low brings its own cold air, in a way. But rates will be lighter. I think the most anyone could expect is an addition 1", if that.

Didn't the NAM verify the best for the last nights/today's band of snow/sleet/freezing rain? And didn't it nail the warm nose? Don't know for sure, but I think it did better than any other model. There were some people on the edges of the transition zones in which the NAM seemed to give the most accurate forecast but as a whole it was pretty bad for this event compared to the other guidance. RTPGiants
It's not really the location that I'm suspicious about. I'm sure it'll be off one way or another there, but NAM is spitting out like 1.5 inches of QPF over spots. No way....
