alex
Measured 10.5 here, not as much as expected but VERY heavy stuff. Lots of sleet mixed in. On the plus side this stuff skies fantastic, and we are starting to get some really nice depth in the woods. Took this picture of my ski pole this afternoon.

backedgeapproaching
No 6 hour clears with this event, I couldn't even find my board when my marker blew over. Driveway was pretty uniform depth wise though 11.5" averaged out-dense stuff. Maybe more fell and compacted with the IP--who knows. Had some addt fluff this afternoon, so total was 12.7". My plow guy was surprised to see a foot in my driveway, mentioned other spots in town he plowed were less..not sure how much. ALY had I think 13-15" for here after it trended warmer and north, so pretty close.

klw
13.6 and counting here, totals were kept down by a few hours of sleet midday. Best snow all day was around 5 or 5 30 as the wind picked up. temp down to 3f Tried to get a base measurement, best I could come up with was 23/24 inches but I am not sure if I was hitting bottom or was hitting an inpenetrable ice layer. Constant pack since 11/
wxmanmitch
Posted this in the obs thread, but I had 11.3" total. Quite a bit of sleet contamination, but fortunately no freezing rain, so snow blowing was easy. Season total is up to 81.2" with about 28-29" snow depth.

powderfreak
14.5" storm total. Some good scenes around town. Walkways are starting to get that tunnel effect with over two feet on the ground, with a good amount of liquid in that snowpack. These are from the wait in traffic this morning through town and up the hill. It then snowed heavily into the middle of the afternoon. Using the "parked cars" method to show the overall vibe of the storm. This evening...
J.Spin
Event totals: 14.6” Snow/1.46” L.E. Despite some slight ups and downs in the snow ratios, you really can’t hold tighter to 10 to 1 than this event has done at our site – liquid is one tenth of the snow right on to the hundredth of an inch as of this morning. We’re still getting some snow, and in their AFD the BTV NWS says the lingering snow from the departing storm is expected to last through much of the day. So the above may not represent the final storm total, but it’s what we’ve got as of this morning. Details from the 6:00 A.M. Waterbury observations: New Snow: 0.3 inches New Liquid: 0.03 inches Snow/Water Ratio: 10.0 Snow Density: 10.0% H2O Temperature: -5.8 F Sky: Light Snow (1 to 2 mm flakes) Snow at the stake: 31.0 inches

J.Spin
I was discussing with my wife yesterday about what the snow depth at the Mt. Mansfield Stake might be today based on where it was and the storm report, and figured it would be around the 80 inch mark. That’s actually right where the latest report came in, which is great for mid to late January.

I recall seeing storm totals in other events where Smuggs beat out Stowe and Jay. Where exactly is Smuggs? Yeah they generally in the past have been pretty spot on with Stowe but this year they've been pretty markedly higher. Though I think this one could be timing differences. They have 25" in 4 days which would include the few inches they reported in Friday's "pre" event. If I total up their actual total from this last storm its somewhere near 20" I think. I also think it can be just reporting differences as Stowe has been low-balled all year due to new SOP's put in place... though with Andre and I back looking over it again it has become closer to reality. I think Stowe's 18" at 3,000ft is spot on accurate. If you plot all the snowfall totals, most of N.VT is 13-18" and it's pretty darn uniform. There was no real orographic effect with this, all the forcing was mid-level stuff so it was a very even snowfall. Not a situation where 3,000ft is going to get 10" more than the valley. Like at 4pm yesterday we had 16" at 3,000ft and 14.5" here in Stowe Village. We rarely see that type of uniformity around here.

And it also is why the impacts were so great and while the snowpack/plow piles are so high. The local CoCoRAHS guy had 13.8" of snow on 1.40" water here. I tallied 14.5" but that's why shoveling that last night was so hard.... each scoop was well over an inch of water in those 14". 26" of good solid snowpack in the yard this morning. And it's only January 21st. We've got two good snow months to go.

powderfreak
So the Mount Mansfield stake depth is at #2 depth all-time for this date. Yesterday's 80" is 2nd to only 1968-69's snowpack. We are back into rarefied territory. Friend's posted photos of avalanches yesterday in the Stowe backcountry. With such a deep snowpack and now a good shot of 1.5" QPF snow load to the slick rain crusts underneath... whoop and slide. 1

powderfreak
Just now, J.Spin said: Event totals: 15.0” Snow/1.50” L.E. This event was such a good snowpack builder. Those numbers right there show it well. Anytime we can get a widespread 1.25-1.75" QPF event as cold baking powder up this way... definitely over-performed, IMO a bit. Not the actual snowfall total itself but I expected a slight downward adjustment of QPF... when in fact it was more than the GFS/EURO had been showing I think by a little bit. Yesterday's 80" is 2nd to only 1968-69's snowpack. We are back into rarefied territory. On that note I’ve got some interesting information from my data set. With a couple of decent January storms I’ve been wondering if 2018-2019 would be creeping back up on the snowfall pace of seasons such as 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. This season’s snowfall to date just rolled past 2007-2008 with this storm, and as of today’s noon observations, it has now caught up to dead even with 2008-2009 at 112.4”, which means it’s now tied for the record for snowfall to date. Snow is still accumulation out there now though, so this season will actually move ahead of 2008-2009 today. My data set is fairly small at only a dozen years or so, but even over a somewhat longer term, we know 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 are fairly robust snowfall seasons, so that puts this season up there with the big dogs, at least to this point. J.Spin
We headed out yesterday for some storm turns since today seemed like it was going to be colder and windier. We stuck to Timberline for the entire afternoon, and the depth of the powder seemed to range from 15 to 25 inches. I’d say the low end values would represent what had come from just Winter Storm Harper, with the deeper areas including snows from previous storm cycles. Anything in that range of depths was more than enough to keep you floating though, since it was fairly hearty mid weight powder. Off piste coverage is of course excellent, and with the storm cycles we’ve had recently it’s just been resurfacing after resurfacing. Those aspects, combined with all the new snow meant that you needed steep pitches to really keep moving, so it was a day for steep and deep. And, that’s just what we focused on all afternoon. That’s certainly the stuff to hit right now if you head out. I’ve got a few shots from the day below, and the text and additional images at in the full report on our website. 5
