Think we'll see some trends N in the next 24-36 hours, just how far will be the question.  The track was much more favorable a few days ago or so before the big jump south.  GEFS has been nudging north the last few runs.

Latest GFS is a nudge back south. Still a long ways off, though.

A day full of mood flakes.  Always nice to see with xmas music playing in the background at work.  Snowed enough to whiten the pavement a bit.

We've had mood flakes on and off for the past 3 days but just a trace. Snow has literally fallen and 18 days already this season and I met a total of 6.1" lol. And by the way I've been listening to Christmas music since November 1st.

So much for optimism lol.  Got 3 or 4 tenths last night, roads were covered this morning for the first time lol.:sleepy:

With the fresh 1” snowfall yesterday, temperatures plunged last night all the way down to 8 degrees. Had horrendous freezing fog this morning, but man did it setup for a beautiful morning! Trees plastered with snow, and extra frosty. Looks really cool.

Storm next week looks warm. Really hope this winter doesn’t blow its load by the second week of January and poof it’s gone.

Got down to 12 this morning.

Hard to believe it's already been 2 weeks since the blizzard.  Still have a good 1-2" of cover over most of the yard, with bare areas in the usual spots.  Temps look to go above freezing for the next several days, so it looks like we'll be back to bare ground/remaining piles by later in the week.  Really feel fortunate to have had such a sustained cover for so early in the season.

Meanwhile, out this way I've seen flakes fly on 19 days already this year but have nothing to show for it. Greatest accumulation: 0.5". Looking forward to a cold rain later this week. :axe:

Will be interesting to see if ORD has a snowier November than December. November had 12.7" and December has had 0.3" so far.  Still a lot of time to go but the bulk of any rallying appears like it would have to occur in the last 7 to 10 days of the month.

A snowier November than December has happened 16 times in Chicago weather records, and 4 times since the official observation site moved to O'Hare (1986, 2004, 2014, 2015)

Those two are on my analog list, and '86 was in the running, so there's certainly precedent to add another one. This could be yet another year where Nov and Dec decide to trade places.

One of the biggest temperature spreads I can remember seeing around here (when a front isn't involved).  Look at the difference between KGYY and KIGQ... 9 degrees.

Amazing how clouds really make that much of a difference. Truly a blanket of clouds.

You got that right. Boring here too in the Keweenaw. Just low clouds, no wind, no snow. Just have the few inches on the ground from earlier lake effect event.

It's been a decent start, but December looking like a dud.

Season total around 70 inches here and a current snow depth of 16", down from 22-24" a week ago.
