Thinksnow18
I still feel that the lower elevations "accums" will be less than forecast by the end of the event due to melting...snowing in Williamsville now, barely anything sticking and yet on a board they will be able to measure it. WxNoob
32 and light to moderate snow at my house (1200 ft asl) about a slushy inch on grass so far. Just drove 7 miles down to Ithaca was 37 and rain. Elevation will be key for this one!
wolfie09
Hrrr has been consistent the last couple runs developing a stronger band in the southern part of the county, later this afternoon/evening.. How much of that accumulates is another story..

rochesterdave
NWS has no handle on this. It’s gonna be what you see is what you get. 34 and snow in ROC. Actually a bit cooler than I expected at this time. Its a solid set up for ROC and SYR. We will know by midnight.

We were never supposed to get any accumulation at lower elevations til after dark last night. Call was for dusting to an inch at best by 5pm today. We’ll see how tonight unfolds and we may end up with nothing again but I know up until now nothing was forecasted to stick at lower elevations. wolfie09
NWS definitely added more mixing and warmer temperatures to the forecast.. Still all snow forecasted here but just a few miles west R/S the entire event.. Same goes for the Fulton area, much more mixing introduced.. My forecast went from 5”-10” to 3”-7”.. Snowing pretty good out at the moment, big fat wet flakes..

CNY_WX
After changing to rain during the mid day the precipitation has gone back to snow and it’s starting to accumulate. Temperature is back down to 33 and I see no problem getting to freezing once the sun sets. If it snows at this rate overnight we should have several inches by morning. rochesterdave
This is the time when I usually get real anxious and call the storm off. Gonna stay strong this time. We always get it on the backside. This is a good setup.

Syrmax
Its unreal how variable the possible outcomes are for most locations with this event, from model to model. Best to keep expectations in check unless you have some elevation going for you. Ugh.

wolfie09
The euro keeps us below freezing from now until about 8 am when most of us warm above freezing east of L. Ontario.. That 1-2 degrees can make a world of difference.. Starting to accumulate more efficiently..
wolfie09
East of Lake Ontario...amounts will be substantially lower given a more unfavorable northwesterly flow regime...however most areas there should still pick up an additional 3 to 6 inches...with localized amounts of up to 10 inches possible across the Tug Hill/ western Adirondack foothills due to orographic enhancement. Given the above and the latest available snowfall reports for this region... have elected to stick with the existing Winter Weather Advisory there for now. Southeast of Lake Ontario...the environment will also become marginally cold enough for some areas of weak lake enhancement to develop this evening and then continue through the rest of the night and Wednesday...with this likely supporting accumulations of 3 to 6 inches from eastern Monroe county eastward to southern Oswego county. Given marginal surface temperatures Wednesday afternoon... the bulk of the accumulation should come between tonight and the first half of Wednesday...for which yet another Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect. Outside of the above areas...the rest of the region should see a general 2-4"/3-5" between now and the end of Wednesday...with marginal temperatures again helping to keep the bulk of any accums confined to tonight and Wednesday morning. In addition to the snow... gusty westerly to northwesterly winds are still expected through much of the period...which will allow for at least some blowing snow at times. Given the combination of this and the expected snowfall amounts above...Winter Weather Advisories also remain in effect for most of the rest of the region...save for Niagara and Orleans counties where overall snowfall amounts should be lowest. lakeeffectkid383
I think from Hamburg to South Buffalo sees less then 2” of additional accumulation for the whole event. I think northtowns see 2-4”. Flow is terrible for Southtowns until you get elevation.
