SnoSki14
Nam looks great for NW sections. Dews are noticeably dry (teens) and highs today only hit 40-41 despite a ton of sunshine early (indicators of strong, cold high pressure). I do think surface temps will be on the colder side, and it'll be pretty close call honestly near the city.
West Point, NY
This is why this thread is unreadable. Two minutes ago you have a guy yelling the NAM is a flamethrower.

North and West
Sooooooo... as an amateur, what's going on? Trying to discern; TIA. Hypothetically speaking, if you were to live by MMU and need to commute tomorrow, what should we be expecting?

SnowGoose69
This event basically all comes down to how early it begins and how heavy. I do like the angle of approach of the WAA as well as the lift. It should result in coastal areas seeing plenty of precip. Often in something resembling a SWFE the angle by which the system approaches and the sharpest WAA puts most of the precip too far west and north early on. It actually tries to bring in backside snow too, especially in NW NJ and the Hudson valley. Not sure I would put much faith in it, but something to watch at least. NycStormChaser
Why are people bickering so much? This isn't a big snowstorm for NYC no matter how much people wish it would be. We have to be realistic here.

MJO812
Just now, Ericjcrash said: Exactly. Like I said it will come down to the amount of precip and how much cold air is still around. These types of storms like to come earlier than modeled. We might either be looking at several inches or just an inch Temps will hover around freezing all day so it will be close. Alot of sleet will happen in the city. Question will be if it will stick.

By 4pm the sleet and rain moves in and temperatures are 32/33 the entire time although you can't take any model verbatim. I agree it can certainly over perform if the storm moves in earlier but there's more of a probability of getting less than more. Either way it will be nice to see our first winter storm. Hopefully it's a sign of whats to come this season.
