amazing! how many 90 degree days has Columbia experienced this summer/year? I can't imagine living in that furnace

the "half-backs" in Asheville/Western NC must be wondering if they still live in Florida LOL

107 so far. A couple years ago they had more than that. I was thinking that 95 from yesterday sounded pretty awful until I saw their daily record was 101! :yikes:

Edit: In 2016 CAE recorded 109 days of 90+ including 21 days of 100+!

Days of 90+

2018 - 107 and counting

2017 - 100

2016 - 109

2015 - 98

2014 - 100

For comparison, here ate GSP' s totals:

2018 - 47 (looks like GSP is done now)

2017 - 35

2016 - 78

2015 - 60

2014 - 43

Don't know what CAE in 2013 but that year GSP only had 14.

RDU - 71/71

ATL - 79/65.  HI  81

FLO - 77/74  HI 78

Pffffttttt...........counting in the hundreds of 90+ degree days is quite easy to do in Columbia, but where they excel is in 100+ degree days though  :P

CAE had no 100 degree days in '13  :D   and only 11 in 2012.  In 2016 there were 21, in 2015 there were 17,  in 2014 there were 5. I don't believe there were any 100 degree days last year.

CAE fell one day short in 2016 for tying the record for most consecutive 100 degree days. The record is 8 days and on the 8th day CAE only recorded a temp of 99 thanks to a little thunderboomer that cooled it off    The most 100 degree days came in 1954 with 28 of them. After 25 years there, I'm sooooo glad to be away from the portals  ^_^

Hey there buckeye, hope you're well! Yeah, pretty crazy just how hot it can get there. Looks like they just missed 90 today with a refreshing 89. I think you're correct about no 100s last year, and I think only 2 or 3 this year. I haven't hit 100 IMBY since 2012, and GSP has hit 100 (exactly) only twice since then.

I dont mind the heat today, cause its over with for good after Michael rolls by. After getting to avg 70/48 this weekend, much cokder air arrives early next week with some fronts. Should see first flakes of the season northern mtns, espeacilly up top. Been a long time coming   but summer is finally over.

Euro says ehhh not so fast my friend.. Sure it gets cooler after Michael moves through but the next legit push of cold air hangs back in the plains and the ridge is still in control as of day 8..

As jim ross once said calling a match...finally...finally...by god finally.... got some good rain from two cells yesterday totaling a little over an inch. First good rain in 2 months or so...and the worst of the never ending heat is finally over. Hoping to pick up some more before the main event with michael...which hopefully can give me at least several inches.
