SnoJoe
Just got back from dinner in Spruce Pine. Roads were fine just a little wet. I think the warm nose is already making its appearance, my temp has gone up 1.4 degrees in the past hour.

Tyler Penland
Bad photo. Maybe a quarter to a third of an inch here. Went above freezing around 3am which has melted some off.
Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
Beautiful to look at. Thankful the power stayed on. At least 1/3 here.
Tyler Penland
Little hard to see in the photo but from Vilas looking up the hill. No ice here at the store but the glazing starts a hundred yards up towards the bypass. Always amazing cutoffs right through here. Also better house pic.
cold air aloft
Temperature bumped up to 33 degrees where it still hovering. I enjoyed the little ice that we had, but glad it didn't amount to much. I'm still surpised it didn't warm up more than it did in this part of Haywood County. HurricaneTracker
0.62” liquid equivalent. Little to no ice in southwest Buncombe. Forecast went pretty much like I expected. NAM and RGEM were indeed too aggressive. Glad impacts to most folks are minimal!
cold air aloft
Here's the little glaze we had last night. Stayed confined to trees as the roads around here just stayed wet. Not much I know, but I won't be surprised if it's several more years before we see freezing rain again in Maggie.

The last real ice accumulation I remember in this area was I at my old place in 1996. THAT was an icestorm there. So, it was at least different in that regard.
WxKnurd
Headed up to look at houses around Waynesville and Maggie Valley, hit good glaze on trees between Stanley and Lincolnton then slack on glaze until we got closer to 40 on 321. “Good” amount of ice on trees and what looked to even be some on ground basically when we got to Rutherford College. Will be an interesting day, checking our houses ranging from 2900’ up near Waterville Lake to 3600’ at the base of Cold Mountain and 4000’ up above Balsam on the county line. Looking forward to being able to participate in this thread as a resident in the near future.

I will add that this is the 2nd time in the last year that we have had ice accumulate on everything here in Candler. Usually we get nothing at all but rain and 33.

Water in the house and losing a tree; you certainly have had the bad end of the weather recently; hope the tree did not fall on anything but the ground and the water wasn't too destructive. Maybe we can get some nice cold light weight snow at some point this winter although my magic 8 ball says outlook not so good.

The dreaded warm nose, what has to happen to not have to deal with the warm nose in a storm, seems like back in the 60's and 70's with the great winters we had you never heard of a warm nose, it stayed plenty cold during most if not all the storms and the precipitation stayed snow. So what does it take to not have to worry about the warm nose?

Tyler Penland
Got snowed on at the viaduct this evening. Made it up on the Parkway after work. The section from 181 to Flat Rock was surprisingly open. Couple pics from the trip.

SouthWake33
Hi folks. I have a cabin in Zionville on Snake Mountain and am thinking about going up this weekend. Any thoughts on the potential snow Sunday? I’d love to see a few inches.
WeatherHawk
Fine and light snow up here for the past few hours...elevated surfaces/metal, etcetera with a light dusting...but it's nice to watch and feel the flakes on your face.
