Met1985
You can see the cold air working down the spine of the apps with each radar return.

Met1985
Looks like heading into tonight through tomorrow morning the boarder counties will get in on some upslope snow. The flow will not be a true NW flow but will kind of rotate as the system pulls northward. Most places should see some type of flake action along the boarder. It shoukd make for a festival feel there. Good luck.
Tyler Penland
Wound up with about a half inch of sleet and solid glaze of ZR. Hearing from friends in Eastern Ashe County that it was a lot worse there. Roads south/west of Boone were a little slushy at 530 this morning but not too bad. Few small limbs down here and there. Moonhowl
Although I would like to see a few flakes of snow this evening; looking forward to the upcoming sunshine. Loved this statement from the GSP forecast discussion and all I have to say is amen to that: As of 200 AM EST Thursday: Generally quiet through the extended (and we definitely deserve the break!).
FlatLander48
I have a love/hate relationship with this weather, but since It's November, I'll say I love it. Just a nice cold icy day. GFS keeps putting in gulf lows at the end of each run it seems, so as long as they keep showing up, I think we're gonna have a big start to winter. Met1985
The flow from the west has started to pick up. I wouldn't be surprised if some right along the boarder start to see some kind of precipitation soon but the precipitation is banking up from the SW because of the orientation of the low. Buckethead
Finally had a chance to share a couple of pics from the ice storm. It's no surprise we have so many trees down with this type of accretion. (Just took this about 15 minutes ago...it never thawed today.)

SnoJoe
Had a coating or dusting or whatever you call it of sleet this morning along with a little bit freezing rain. Some snizzle and frozen smoke now. It's time for a decent snow. Doesn't look like we'll get one any time soon.

Tyler Penland
Little tiny flakes here just south of Boone. Hit a decent shower driving out of town earlier. Tynecastle area never thawed much today. Trees were gorgeous coming home. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

SouthWake33
I’ve been watching light to moderate snow on my web cam on house in Zionville for the last couple of hours. Hard to tell about accumulations until morning.
BMulkey
Having 40+ mph wind gusts blow across my still iced-over home and yard is a scary sound. Lived here for a few years, we've had the ice and we've had plenty of wind, but this is the first time they've been simultaneous. Still, it's been a fun night. Rain changed over to snow on my way home as I drove through Blowing Rock, and has been snowing pretty regularly since. It looks quite pretty outside...now if I can get through the night without power loss or property damage, that would be great.
