Calderon
Is it just me or has it taken another northerly wobble over the last hour or so?

Definitely a jog to the north. Wouldnt be surprised to see landfall right at the Alabama/Mississippi border.
Windspeed
Nice increase of low-level convergence, inflow with increasing echoes on the east quadrant of LLC. That continuing to intensify will get highest vortex winds down to surface for landfall.
Santa Clause
Think you are in pretty good spot still, definite increase in intensity on Eastern side of center.
NavarreDon
Wind has backed off some here in Navarre but, the Gulf is open for business with the precip. I'm a little surprised at the amount of rainfall so far.
Jackstraw
Think there could be some precip surprises with this storm. Even though it's having issues at the surface there's plenty of energy at the midlevels to provide forcing to wring out the moisture. Wouldn't be surprised to see some locally 15 to 20 inch totals if it slows as forecasted.

Matters little now but imagining the late week/weekend ECMWF solutions of a slowdown and crawl W-WSW would have been horrible for LA/E TX with this setup. Fortunately this should make its way north into the Mississippi Valley, though the flooding threat could be severe there as well.

Think east central Louisiana/Mississippi up into SE Arkansas could possibly see some 2-3 inch an hour rates isolated in spots as it begins to round the SE periphery of the ridge. It's got a lot of energy built up that is going to have to go somewhere when it begins to lose the tropical fuel.

MikeB_01
Landfall about 30-40 miles east of where the 7 pm CDT track was. Looks like that northern wobble lasted a little longer than they thought
MikeB_01
I don't think this will be much more than a 2-3 ft surge event, but still fun to see the spike on the water levels
Coach McGuirk
It was just a tropical storm hit, I'm sure it wasn't that bad.
Windspeed
Hey, it was something interesting to track. 50-60 mph winds over a good area. Hopefully residential and commercial damage will be at a minimum. Still, flooding is always the worst aspect of landfalling tropical storms with an enhanced moisture feed off the GOM. The event is far from over as Gordon should continue to pull heavy rain into the MS Valley the next few days.
NavarreDon
Over 10” of rain in Pensacola area so far. Sadly one fatality as a child was killed when a tree fell on a mobile home in Escambia county (W Pensacola area). The river of moisture is just to the west of us here in Navarre, we are @ 5” currently..
Chinook
I guess they got roughly 2.5" to 9" of rain near the landfall point
NavarreDon
Up to 7” here at the house in Navarre. This matches up well to storm accumulation on radarscope. Rain is starting to wain out in the Gulf. .
