.AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS
WILL AFFECT WAKE... NORTHWESTERN JOHNSTON

Check RADAR... Yellows and Reds 20 minutes away.

Rush out to do some mowing.

Total accumulation = T *barely

Check RADAR - no returns left on screen. Rained itself out.

I think I just saw Pennywise on the side of the road in Kernersville.  He asked me if I wanted to float.

This current pattern is incredible.  I certainly dont recall the last time we had rain for nearly 2 weeks straight in July/August.  I gave up on using my rain gauge. I'll need to switch to a 5 gallon bucket!

Definitely some street flooding across the Triad this morning. Watch out for "It".

:-)

Now if you hadn't of mowed it would have poured.

Is ITB Raleigh always a rain hole like it's been this year since I moved here?  It's hilarious sitting under a Flash Flood Warning with only a T with radar drying up while 10 miles west is getting inches upon inches.  I just turned our sprinklers on since through this PWAT 2.0"+ pattern all week I've picked up 0.62" (and only 0.02" over the past 4 days).

You'd think southern Johnston County had mountains the way the storms always get shredded / go into outflow mode when trying to move in from the south, or that Durham/Chapel Hill benefit from orthographic lift the way they're running 15"+ of ITB Raleigh this year so far.

There was an unexpected mesolow that developed late yesterday afternoon that tracked NE just east of the I-85 corridor.

It produced a widespread 2-4" and flash flooding along I-85 (including here in Newnan) up to around the Hartsfield-Jackson area, mostly within a 1 hour time span.

The winds were pretty gusty with it too.

0.19” this morning in the rain gauge. 4.96” over the last 6 days, 6.53” over the last two weeks. Yards pretty much run from very soggy to standing water with clouds of mosquito vermin in waiting.

Another .23" this morning so no mowing grass again today. 1.14" for August. 8.40 for the past 2 weeks. It has rained for the past 12 days straight.

I mowed this evening but I didn't have a choice.  Leaving for a week at the beach tomorrow morning. If I hadn't mowed I wouldn't have been able to find my house when I got home. As it was, it choked my mower a few times. Basically what my Deere was telling me was, I can cut the grass or I can carry your fat ass up the hill, but not both at once.
