Let's see how good ol' Stephens City does here.  Anyone got some CAPE numbers for central MD?  It is sooooo hot out there.

CAPE is below 3k across the area...the 4k+ tongue of CAPE is kinda fake...derived on meso analysis from the small area of 80° dews near the bay.

Did pretty well, actually.  .75" in the gauge.  Warning definitely not needed, however.  A bit of thunder, 25 mph winds...maybe.  Got good rain, happy with that.

Drove thru a deluge between Littlestown and Hanover . Some lightning and thunder . Incredible rain rate for 5 minutes .

Lots of tree branches down in Hanover

Wheres @showmethesnow

Wasn't anything earth shattering up this way. Quick down pour with some straight line wind gusts that lasted about 5 minutes but then it settled down for the most part with light wind and rain. Very little in the way of lightning and thunder though. Haven't really had anything noteworthy this year in the terms of severe though we have had quite frequent storms.

A friend up in Abbottstown said they had a lot of minor damages ....numerous large branches,  trampoline damage, several shingles,  part of a gutter etc.

Nothing close to that in my neck of the woods. Might have had gusts to 35-40 mph for maybe a minute as the storm first broke but after that it was pretty pedestrian.

Woke up to thunder at 2:30 am and checked Radarscope -- warned t-storm slipping just south through Gaithersburg/Rockville.  Picked up a big 0.08.

Yeah the thunder woke me up around 2:10am this morning. Got brief heavy rain/ gusty winds in Herndon, VA. One of my first thoughts looking at the radar and seeing a nice little bow-echo moving thorugh was: "If it had come through during the afternoon hours with steeper low-level lapse rates..."

Instability is on the rise. Mesoanalysis has around 2000-2500 SBCAPE and 35 kt bulk shear. Partly sunny with mid-high altitude altocumulus and a little cirrocumulus and cirrus strewn around the sky with 70% sun. Wouldn't be surprised if we get jolted this afternoon although shear is almost unidirectional..

One weather station nearby has 91 and the other 87. It's probably 89-90. Heat index in the upper 90s to 100.
