The overall shift in weather from the 1970's has whole has been something I never could've imagined as kid.  

I do remember May and June being warmer, spring was a season, Snow was much harder to receive on Long Island(Nassau County)and summer nights were not as warm.  Indian summers were rare, fall was a season as well

But I do favor the warmer climate we seem to be transitioning to
