How is this not an excessive heat warning??

Here's the definition. I suspect one or two locations in the region may have approached or met the criteria.

Excessive Heat:  Issued when heat index values are forecast to reach or exceed 105°F for at least 2 consecutive hours.
Watch is issued 24 to 48 hours of the event.
Warning is issued within 24 hours of the event.

Agreed - was posting about that earlier that Mon - Thu could feature sneaky heat and out perform guidance if we stay clear.   Also may see ridge / heights resurge in the 9/13 - 9/15 period - way out there but ridging reacting to the warm waters at play.    bet on warmth and rain..

the eps is flatter and hotter followed by another backdoor high

Max today

EWR: 97
LGA: 97
NYC: 88
ACY: 95
{HL: 94

I like your NYC number to make a point of how ridiculous NYC has become. In reality, though, a day in the upper 90s is too much for even the NYC foliage to resist and LGA minus 4 is probably more accurate. I love your 88 though.
